Frank Ocean has chosen “peace” over payback.
Nearly one week after his alleged scuffle with Chris Brown in a Los Angeles parking lot, Ocean confirmed on his Tumblr late Saturday night that he won’t be looking for justice after all.
“As a child I thought if someone jumped me it would result in me murdering or mutilating a man. But as a man I am not a killer,” he wrote in capital letters.
“I’m an artist and a modern person. I’ll choose sanity. No criminal charges. No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom. Peace, albeit trite, is what I want in my short life. Peace.”

Following the Jan. 27 incident, which involved six people, L.A. County Sherriff spokesman Steve Whitmore confirmed that Ocean, 25, “is desirous of prosecution in this incident.”
Brown, 24, still has one year left in his five-year probation from his 2009 assault on Rihanna.
But as HLN’s Jane Velez-Mitchell said earlier this week, the singer will probably avoid jail time.
“We all know that when big stars violate their probation, if they have high-powered attorneys, they seem to get away without spending any significant time behind bars, if they even visit a jail . . . we do have a two-tiered criminal justice system in this country, one for all of us and one for the rich and famous.”
Ocean is scheduled to perform at the Grammy Awards on Feb. 10.
