Woody Harrelson

Actor Woody Harrelson used to be movie legend Marlon Brando’s chess buddy.

The former Cheers star struck up a friendship with his hero over the chess board – and admits he always let the big man win.

He says, “Those were good times. Marlon did sometimes cheat a little bit… He made the move and it was the wrong move and then I’d take advantage of it and he’d insist on getting the move back.

“I’d argue for a bit and then I’d be like, ‘I’m arguing with Marlon Brandon…! Yeah, you can have the move back.'”

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman will find it hard to relocate to Paris, France with her husband Benjamin Millepied next year (14), because she loves everything about living in Los Angeles.

The Black Swan star admits she treasures the years she has spent in Tinseltown and she always looks forward to discovering new arts around town.

She tells Marie Claire magazine, “I just really, really love it here. It’s one of the most exciting places to be in the world right now. It’s really central in terms of the arts. It feels like things are happening in L.A., you know? New York is more where art is bought than where art is made…”

However, Portman will have to leave her adopted home behind when she moves to the French capital, where Millepied has accepted a job with the Paris Opera Ballet, and she reveals the news took her by surprise.

She says, “When Ben asked me if I wanted to go to Paris, I freaked. Everyone dreams of living in Paris.”

The couple wed in August, 2012, three months after welcoming their son, Alef.

Kim Clijsters

Former tennis champ Kim Clijsters has added a boy to her brood after giving birth on Wednesday (18Sep13).

The Belgian sports star took to just hours after the birth to tell fans of little Jack’s arrival.

She writes, “Jack Leon Lynch is born! Born at 7.06 pm tonight and we are both doing well… His big sister, mama and daddy are very proud and happy!”

The tot is a little brother to five-year-old Jada Ellie, Clijsters first child with her husband Brian Lynch.

The 30 year old retired from the court following the U.S. Open last year (12).

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock has lavished praise on the crew behind Alfonso Cuaron’s new space film Gravity for turning a studio backlot into a children’s “wonderland” so her young son could have fun while she was at work.

The survival project was one of the first the actress signed up for following the 2010 breakdown of her marriage to cheating ex Jesse James and the adoption of her baby boy Louis, and she made it clear to producers that keeping her son safe and happy was her number one priority.

She says, “I can’t selfishly take journeys anymore because I have to take a little boy along with me.

“I said (to producers)… make it so I’m not somewhere not paying attention because I’m so worried about, ‘Where is he? Is he having fun? Is this a good life experience?’

“(Producer) David (Heyman) turned a backlot of a sound stage in rainy London into a wonderland for a one-and-a-half-year-old. Everything was bumper guarded! People go, ‘What is that?’ And I go, ‘That is to protect a child’s head! All of it!'”

Bullock admits she hugged her baby a little tighter each night after spending hours shooting in isolation, portraying a medical engineer who has lost a child on a space shuttle mission gone wrong.

She adds, “I kept having to say, ‘What would I do (if I lost a child)?’ and I realised I might be far worse off than she is. You just have to go there and know at the end of the day, you can unplug and go home and do something a lot of… people who were parents can’t.”

Diane Kruger

Inglourious Basterds star Diane Kruger hates playing gun-toting characters onscreen because she’s not a fan of weapons.

The German actress, who is currently playing a cop in U.S. TV drama The Bridge, admits she’s not a natural shooter and doesn’t enjoy pulling the trigger on make-believe bad guys.

She says, “I’m not very good at it. Maybe it’s because I’m not American, but I don’t like guns. I don’t like anything that has to do with guns. I don’t like people being shot in shows; I’d rather watch a sex scene.

“I nearly killed a New York Times reporter who was on set the very first day of the show… I was trying to look all professional and tell her about my character and I fumbled with my holster and the gun just dropped on her head… The review was not so great for me.”

The Avengers

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s little sister is reportedly in talks to play Scarlet Witch in director Joss Whedon’s The Avengers sequel.

Elizabeth Olsen appears to have replaced Irish actress Saorise Ronan as the frontrunner for the role.

If cast, the Martha Marcy May Marlene star will most likely join Kick-Ass hero Aaron Taylor-Wood onscreen – he recently confirmed that he has had discussions about playing Scarlet Witch’s brother Quicksilver.

It won’t be the first time he has teamed up onscreen with Olsen – they will appear together onscreen in the upcoming Godzilla remake.

Audrey Tautou

Beloved French film Amelie is to be reinvented as a Broadway musical.

Folk-rocker Dan Messe of Hem has teamed up with playwright Craig Lucas and lyricist Nathan Tysen to bring the 2001 film, starring Audrey Tautou, to the stage.

Announcing the news on Thursday (22Aug13), Messe wrote, “Not the best kept secret, but still I’m happy to announce that I’ve been commissioned to adapt the film Amelie for Broadway.”

The movie original, which was directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, was a huge hit just over a decade ago and picked up five Oscar nominations.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow has added her tribute to her Glee co-star Cory Monteith following his death on Saturday (13Jul13).

Monteith, who portrayed Finn Hudson on the show, was found dead in his hotel room at Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim in Canada, and his co-stars flooded social networking sites to mourn the actor’s passing.

Now Paltrow, who played substitute teacher Holly Holliday in Glee, has expressed her heartache over the loss of her friend and for his girlfriend, Lea Michele.

She has released a statement which reads, “Cory was a sweet and talented man. My heart breaks for Lea and the entire Glee family.”

A publicist for Michele, who played Monteith’s onscreen on/off girlfriend Rachel Berry on the series, has asked for the public and the media to respect her privacy as she mourns her boyfriend.

Cory Monteith

Former 90210 star Dustin Milligan and members of Cory Monteith’s band Bonnie Dune gathered at the late actor’s Hollywood home on Saturday night (13Jul13) to stage a wake for their tragic pal.

Monteith was found dead in a Vancouver, Canada hotel room earlier in the day and his Hollywood pals halted weekend party plans to mourn the star.

The sombre get together took place at the Hollywood Boulevard home Monteith shared with his pals until he moved out earlier this summer (13), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It has now emerged that one of the last people the Canadian actor had spent time with before his death was a former acting teacher, called Maureen Webb, who joined the Glee star for dinner on Thursday (11Jul13). Monteith helped his old pal launch Project Limelight, a non-profit aid organisation, last year (12).

Tributes continue to pour in for the tragic actor, who battled substance abuse and entered rehab in a bid to tackle his demons earlier this year (13) – Selena Gomez added to the list of celebrities offering up their thoughts about Monteith’s death when she posted a photo of herself hugging the actor on the red carpet at the Kids’ Choice Awards in 2011, and wrote: “This hurts. I love you Cory. Rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.”

Ivanka Trump

Ivanka Trump has named her son Joseph Frederick Kushner.

The ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ star – who welcomed her baby boy into the world in New York City on Monday (10.14.13) – shared pictures of him online and explained that he is named after his paternal great-grandfathers.

The 31-year-old blonde beauty, who also has a two-year-old daughter, Arabella, with her husband, Jared Kushner, wrote on her Tumblr page on Tuesday (10.15.13): "Please join in our joy as we welcome Joseph Frederick Kushner, named after each of our paternal grandfathers, both master builders of their generation and inspiring patriarchs of their families.

"Both men set the standards that have been passed down through the generations and which we hope to impart upon Joseph and Arabella. They created a legacy for our family that inspires our careers as well as our love and respect for one another. We are honored to name our son after these two distinguished men. We feel so blessed with the newest member of the family!"

Proud multi-millionaire grandfather Donald Trump previously said he was thrilled to have welcomed another member to his family.

He tweeted: "My beautiful daughter Ivanka just had a healthy baby boy. Jared and Ivanka are very proud!"
