No, this isn’t an episode of Diagnosis Murder.

Hollywood veteran Dick Van Dyke narrowly averted disaster when he was pulled to safety after his car had burst into flames on a Los Angeles freeway Monday.

According to TMZ, the Mary Poppins star was driving down the 101 when his Jaguar started to catch fire. Luckily, another motorist – identified as Jason Pennington – saw the burning car on the side of the road and pulled Van Dyke to safety. According to Pennington, the actor was hunched over the wheel and struggling inside of the vehicle when he arrived.

The 87-year-old actor appeared slightly disoriented by the experience but did not need medical attention. His wife, Arlene Silver, reportedly came to pick him up shortly after the incident – and even made a home video of what’s left of the car.

She tweeted:

Van Dyke’s melted car @iammrvandy He’s fine thank God!!
