Yesterday Lizzy Caplan got all made up, put on a nice dress, and tottled off to The Late Show with David Letterman, only to sit in a dressing room while some bonkers lady in a bedazzled jacket hogged her spotlight. Cher got one full hour on The Late Show and a milkshake; Lizzy Caplan got nothing.

The show’s open promoted appearances by both Cher and Lizzy Caplan:

But as the show unfolded, Cher’s specific brand of crazy proved too alluring for Letterman and Caplan’s segment was bumped to tonight. Throughout the show, Cher and Letterman discussed some everyday normal topics like Cher’s first tattoo (“hey sailor” on her butt) and why Cher hasn’t released an album in a decade: “I forgot.” She also entered on a burlesque swing to “My Country ‘Tis of Thee.”

Lizzy Caplan was, by the way, scheduled to be on the show to promote Masters of Sex, which airs on Showtime, a premium cable channel owned by CBS, the channel which broadcasts The Late Show.

You can catch her on the show tonight, unless Mariah Carey decides to stop by on a white unicorn or something.

If Cher could turn back time, she’d make sure Miley Cyrus‘ twerk-happy MTV VMAs performance never see the light of day.

Speaking with USA Today, the singing diva has put in her two cents on the controversial routine, telling the publication that the former Disney startlet “was so bad” during her duet with Robin Thicke.

“I’m not old-fashioned. She could have come out naked, and if she’d just rocked the house, I would have said, ‘You go, girl,'” Cher says. “It just wasn’t done well. She can’t dance, her body looked like hell, the song wasn’t great, one cheek was hanging out. “

“And, chick, don’t stick out your tongue if it’s coated,” she adds.

Cher later explained her choice words on Twitter, writing:

What I should have said,”I didn’t like it that much,but she’s Pushing The Envelope,being an ARTIST ! She’s Talented,& DIDNT COMMIT A FELONY

Likewise, Cher’s contemporary, Sir Elton John, thinks that the “Wrecking Ball” crooner is getting a little too out-of-hand these days.

“I look at Miley Cyrus and I see a meltdown waiting to happen,” he recently told The Australian. “And she’s so young! But she’s got two records in the top 20, so who is going to stop her?”

Well, we all know that Miley can’t stop.
