Lady Gaga to perform at 2013 MTV VMAs

Mother Monster is back!

MTV announced Thursday that Lady Gaga will take the stage at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards to perform the first single from her highly anticipated album, ARTPOP.

The 27-year-old singer is the first artist revealed to be performing on the upcoming awards show, which airs Sunday, August 25th.

Gaga has a rich history of making headlines at the MTV VMAs. Let’s see – there was that infamous meat dress, a daring blood-soaked performance, and a date named Kermit the Frog, to name a few examples. In 2011, she memorably transformed into her male alter-ego, Jo Calderone, by dressing in drag. Gaga also has a whopping 13 VMA Moonmen to her name.

There’s no telling what the shocking songstress will bring to 2013 s show.

Mother Monster has laid low on the performance front since undergoing hip surgery in February, although she did belt out a kick-ass rendition of “The National Anthem” at New York Pride last month. Gaga recently announced that her next album, ARTPOP, will drop November 11th.

One person who might not be too excited for the “Born This Way” singer’s return? Lana Del Rey. A demo for Lana’s four year old track, “So Legit,” just leaked and it’s chock-full of Gaga hatin.’

Personally, we can’t wait to see what Lady Gaga has got up her couture sleeve. Viva VMAs, Little Monsters!

Apparently done with running naked through the woods, all for the sake of subjective, misguided “art,” Lady Gaga posted the latest promotional image for ARTPOP on her Facebook page Thursday. Among other things, it features a prosthetic arm and yet another rambling message from the wacky pop superstar.

“I am listening to the album,” she wrote. I know maybe this upsets you, as you’d very much like to hear it. i share these personal feelings because IF I HAD TO GO ANOTHER MONTH WITHOUT PLAYING THE NEW MUSIC I THINK ID CHEW MY ARM OFF # ARTPOP11DAYS

THIS IS THAT ARM.”

Perhaps she took the video for “Single Ladies” a bit too seriously.

In any case, it’s the latest tease from Gaga’s album, due out Nov. 11. Earlier this week, a leaked demo of her song “Aura” (or maybe “Burqa,” who knows?) hit the Internet, much to the divided criticisms of her fans.

Kate Upton revealed this week that she felt “terrible” after appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated‘s Swimsuit Issue, and she also had some choice words to say to those who objectify her.

Lady Gaga shared her love of meditation, forests, and nudity in her strangest video yet.

And the trailer for George Clooney’s newest film, The Monuments Men, was released this week.

Well, way to burst our hopes and dreams for what a Lady Gaga and Rihanna duet could sound like, Lady Gaga.

Earlier this week, Mother Monster appeared on KIIS-FM Los Angeles to talk about all things ARTPOP.

When a fan asked if Rihanna had a special appearance on the album, Gaga said it’s simply not true.

“I mean, it’s a rumor I guess. I guess it’s a good rumor. I mean, I like Rihanna,” she said.

“Rihanna’s wonderful and I always like hanging out with her.”

Gaga’s comments come just weeks after RiRi posted the following on Twitter:

Just left the studio… Recorded a #monster hook for one of my favorite artists! And that’s all I can give you… #NavyShit

– Rihanna (@rihanna) September 11, 2013

ARTPOP, Gaga’s highly anticipated third studio album, drops Nov. 11.

LADY GAGA said that she has been “betrayed” and is now asking for her fans’ forgiveness, in an open letter posted on her website on Sunday.

The newest face of Versace is known for her different looks and crazy outfits, including her magnified overall look and aesthetic in newest album, “ARTPOP.”

However, in a new letter, the “Do What U Want” singer has confessed that she’s been “betrayed” by former employees who “gravely mismanaged” her “time and health” during the preparation for the album. She also blames the delay of the music video for “Do What U Want” to those who “left me on my own to damage control any problems.”

Gaga explained in her full letter below:

“[The video] is late because, just like with the ‘Applause’ video unfortunately, I was given a week to plan and execute it. It is very devastating for someone like me, I devote every moment of my life to creating fantasies for you.”

All my my most successful videos were planned over a period of time when I was rested and my creativity was honored. Those who have betrayed me gravely mismanaged my time and health and left me on my own to damage control any problems that ensued as a result. Millions of dollars are not enough for some people. They want billions. Then they need trillions. I was not enough for some people. They wanted more.

I am very grateful to the photographers and designers who have always stood by me to make sure my fans are never aware of the things that happen behind the scenes, but unfortunately after my surgery I was too sick, too tired, and too sad to control the damage on my own. My label was not aware that this was going on.

The next few months of ARTPOP will truly be its beginning. Because those who did not care about ARTPOP’s success are now gone, and the dreams I have been planning can now come to fruition. Please forgive me that I did not foresee this coming, I never thought after all the years of hard work that those I called friends and partners would ever care so little at a time I needed them the most. Give me a chance to show you the meaning of seeing art all around you. Open your hearts to me again that I may show you the joy of us coming together through our talents, that we are stronger as a unit than when we are alone.

Let me be for you the Goddess that I know I truly am, let me show you the visions that have been in my mind for two years. I love you.

Forgive me monsters. Forgive me ARTPOP. You are my whole world.”

What can say about her letter?

This sea isn’t big enough for the two of them.

“212” singer Azealia Banks is waging war against Lady Gaga after the Mother Monster encouraged fans to dress up like mermaids – like herself at the Sunday’s VMAs – for her upcoming show at London’s iTunes Festival.

After hearing about the new dress code for Little Monsters, an unimpressed Banks tweeted:

@ladygaga hmmmm sounds alot like Azealia Banks’ mermaid balls.

– AZEALIA BANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) August 28, 2013

Of COURSE gaga wants to play mermaid again….. Pffft.

– AZEALIA BANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) August 28, 2013

Not picking a fight. Just all looks soo familiar…. To me.

– AZEALIA BANKS (@AZEALIABANKS) August 28, 2013

Apparently, Azealia called dibs on mermaid fashion in 2012 after throwing a series of concerts where she channeled her Ariel. Appropriately, Gaga the responded to the dig by tweeting a GIF of the crying Little Mermaid, seen below.

The two reportedly collaborated on a track earlier this year, but Gaga later confirmed that it will not appear on her upcoming album, ARTPOP.

Yo ladies, Imma let you finish but this guy from TLC’s My Strange Addiction had the best Mermaid get-up of all time.

Kim Kardashian isn’t the only one calling people out this week.

Lady Gaga dropped some shocking truths this Friday when she revealed why she and blogger Perez Hilton had a falling out, telling her 39.7 million Twitter followers that she’s no longer friends with the Hollywood gossip fiend after he sent her rude messages when she injured her hip. (You know, the one that caused her to cancel her multi-million dollar world tour.)

She tweeted:

Still have the text Perez sent me of me in a wheelchair w the words KARMA written across + Madonna pointing a gun at me. Day of my accident

– Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) August 16, 2013

Gaga, who was close with Hilton when she broke out into the music scene in 2009, added that fans shouldn’t sink to his level waste their time sending hate mail to the writer.

Please monsters do not be affected by someone like this NOTHING merits this kind of hatred. Im ok & I always survive. Ignore him. Just Dance

– Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) August 16, 2013

Hilton, presumably at a lost for words, only tweeted out a passive aggressive screenshot of Katy Perry‘s “Roar” beating out Gaga’s “Applause” on the iTunes charts as a response.

Joke’s on him though: Perry is actually #TeamGaga.

Little Monsters around the world still don’t know the name of Lady Gaga‘s first single, but thanks to a Twitter post by Mother Monster herself on Friday, we’re one step closer to the big reveal.

In her first tweet since February (yep), Gaga took the opportunity to share the cover art for her first single from the highly anticipated ARTPOP.

The nude image – covered at the appropriate parts so it’s still SFW – continues the theme that’s been teasing fans in recent weeks, from the image accompanying her album announcement to her V Magazine sneak peek.

According to Gaga, the track will arrive Aug. 19. For those keeping track, that’s six days before the singer will perform the same track at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

ARTPOP drops Nov. 11, with pre-orders through a special app available on Sept. 1.

Let the countdown begin.

After announcing the details to her upcoming album, the Mother Monster may have given more clues to the mysterious record that is ARTPOP.

Gaga’s makeup artist, Tara Savelo, shared a photo of the musician hard at work by an easel on LittleMonsters.com, captioned “26 Days.” The number coincidentally fell on August 19 – the same day her new single drops – which led fans to suspect that the “Born This Way” crooner was snapped working on its cover artwork.

In the picture, a brunette Gaga is seen hunched over a canvas with the words “applause” scrawled out in red.

Previously, the 27-year-old songstress expressed a rather disconcerting outlook on her new music, writing on her social networking site:

ARTPOP as they pry the single from my bleeding fingers. its a scary thing to revisit those things underneath, the pain in your past. but all I found was raw passion. I thought I was destroyed inside. im just ready to fight. start the music.

ARTPOP is slated to be released Nov. 11.

Don’t fear, Little Monsters – Mother Monster is on the mend.

Lady Gaga underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in her right hip. Before before the procedure, the pop phenom expressed her gratitude to her fans for their outpouring of support and well wishes on social media.

“Thank you so much for sending me love and support,” she tweeted. “I will be dreaming of you.”

After going under the knife, Gaga reflected on her time on the table, thanking her millions of Little Monsters for helping her through.

“Monsters, You really gave me a lot of strength today,” she wrote on Littlemonsters.com. “Everything happened so fast, but when it came time to face it I reflected on the many stories and experiences you’ve shared with me about your lives. Meeting you backstage, reading your letters, watching you communicate with fans from around the globe to form a community that supports one another–You have completely blown my mind.”

“As they wheeled me into surgery today, I thought about all of your pain and perseverance, your unique family situations, school environments, health issues, homelessness, identity struggles — sometimes you are so brave that it terrifies me,” she continued. “You have changed my life. I love you and am proud to be a part of your lives. If you can do it, I can do it too, and if we stick together we can get through anything.”

Just last week, the injury cause Gaga to cancel the remaining concerts of Born This Way Ball, forcing the refund of roughly 200,000 tickets for 22 dates, which total to a loss of at least $25 million in gross sales, according to Billboard.

Since the announcement, Live Nation touring professionals have been scrambling to shutter one of the most successful pop tours in history. Beyond compensating thwarted concertgoers, many bases must be covered: venues are notified, press releases put out, and all of production is shut down, sending more than 100 strong of cast and crew and all staging equipment packing back to their proper homes.

Even Gaga herself suffers a financial setback from the scrapping the tour. As she now rests during post-surgery recovery, she will kiss goodbye the paychecks she would’ve pocketed per concert, which ran in the seven-figure range.

With Gaga sidelined from the stage, Little Monsters are now left waiting with bated breath for their next dose of their idol, which may well be ARTPOP, her much-anticipated upcoming fourth studio album. The artist plans to release it as an app, as well as on CD and in digital form, this year.

Wish Lady Gaga a speedy recovery in the comments below.
