Katy Perry

The mayor of Hartford, Connecticut blasted Dave Chappelle over his performance walk-out last Thursday night, telling him to “quit whining” following a gig in Chicago, Illinois where he blasted the city. Some might say he got racist, and he also called for North Korea to nuke the city. (story)

Katy Perry’s video for her latest single, ‘Roar’, has arrived, and the song has also knocked Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” from the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. (story)

Naomi Watts stars as Princess Diana in the new movie biopic “Diana”, and she dazzled on the red carpet for the film’s London premiere. (story)

Unfortunately, British critics are blasting the movie, calling it as awful as the car crash that took her life in 1997. (story)

Nobody can seem to get their Lamar Odom facts straight. The NBA star reportedly checked into rehab on Wednesday, but that story wasn’t confirmed and he reportedly fell off the radar. Now they’re saying he spent a day in rehab and left already. He’s also suppopsedly gone on a crack binge. (story)

Gina Gershon will be playing fashion icon Donatella Versace in a new movie, and she looks exactly like her — well, without all the weathering. Naturally, since we’re talking about Gina Gershon, it’s a made-for-TV movie that will air on Lifetime (you didn’t seriously think she’d land a leading role for a big Hollywood production, did you?) (story)

Jack Osbourne’s wife has reportedly suffered a miscarriage. The reality star’s wife, Lisa Stelly, announced that the couple was ecpecting their second child last month, but things took a turn for the worse last week. (story)

Justin Bieber‘s hanging around with Chris Brown now. This should be good. (story)

Everyone’s talking about the recent casting for “Fifty Shades of Grey”. No one likes who producers picked for the lead roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. We came up with 10 stars who would be better in each role, both lists are based on who we’d want to see getting it on hardcore S&M style, of course:

Miley Cyrus

MTV is developing an hour-long Miley Cyrus documentary that will air later this year.

The singer/actress invited cameramen to tag along while she was working on her new album. According to MTV’s president of programming, Susanne Daniels, the film will spotlight the star’s transition from “Disney princess to legitimate artist and fashion icon.”

Cyrus’ current single, “We Can’t Stop,” is No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. She recently admitted that the song is about taking drugs at a party. She told London’s Daily Mail: “I don’t think people have a hard time understanding that I’ve grown up. You can Google me and you know what I’m up to — you know what that lyric is saying.”

The singer, 20, also just got naked for Marc Jacobs’ skin cancer awareness campaign. She posed completely nude for the “Protect the Skin You’re In” campaign, which features the star on a line of t-shirts.

Cyrus kicked off her showbiz career by starring in the Disney series “Hannah Montana” from 2006-11. She has since been working hard to prove she’s “grown up” and eschew her good girl image.

Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z surprised her in Philadelphia, Penn., on Thursday night by joining her on stage and kissing her towards the end of her concert.

The rapper, who is currently touring with Justin Timberlake, took some time off to spend time with his sweetie.

Jay-Z snuck up behind his wife and hugged her, and the crowd went wild. Beyonce’s look of surprise and the tender moment they shared together prompted concertgoers to cheer for the super couple.

Beyonce’s tour has reportedly already made around $55.6 million. Her next show is scheduled for Monday, June 28, at The Staple Center in Los Angeles.

However, fans eagerly waiting for her next album may have to wait a little longer. Fans hoping for new music this summer or fall will probably have to wait until 2014. According to a recent report, the songs that the singer has already recorded have been scrapped.

One Direction

International pop sensation One Direction‘s latest album will be called Midnight Memories.

The British-Irish boyband have revealed the name of their new record the follow-up to last year’s Take Me Home – in a video posted on their Instagram account today .

The clip showed Harry Styles rearranging pieces of paper each with a letter on to spell out the album’s title. The caption for the video said: “So did you get it…? 1DHQ x #1DAlbumTitle.”

The band confirmed the name and release date for their third studio album, and added fans can pre-order it from Monday 9. They tweeted: “YES – 1D’s 3rd album is MIDNIGHT MEMORIES & is out Nov 25th! AND you can pre-order Mon! 1DHQ x #RememberRememberThe25thNovember.”

The record will feature their hit single Best Song Ever, which recently won the ‘Song of the Summer’ prize at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Zayn Malik teased fans earlier in the day when he posted a cryptic video which featured the first few seconds of the final clip, showing his band mate starting to move the pieces of paper into place. Along with the clip, he wrote: “What is @harry_styles up to?”

Midnight Memories is expected to feature a number of writing collaborations with other artists, and McFly’s Danny Jones has confirmed his band penned a track for the record.

He previously said: “We obviously love the boys. They’re amazing guys. We’ve got a new track on their album … I’m glad that they came to us because we can give them good music.”

Jay Z

The weekend is upon us and we’d like to ensure that you have something to talk about while taking a ride down the elevator with a stranger. Read on to catchup on some Hip-Hop and R&B music news that you may have missed while web stalking the new royal baby.

Jay Z changes name

Hip- Hop impresario Jay-Z has decided that a hyphen is not one of the 99 problems he wishes to have. The rapper has reportedly dropped the hyphen in Jay-Z and will now go by Jay Z. Though it is not as big of a name change as Diddy who dropped the “Puff Daddy” moniker or Snoop Lion who puffed, puffed then passed on the “Dogg” in his name – this new name change for Jay Z hints that the rapper has no plans of bowing out of Hip-Hop any time soon. This isn’t the first time Jay Z’s name has been linked to a name change. Earlier this year, the rapper was rumored to take on wife Beyonc ‘s last name to officially go by Shawn Knowles-Carter. That was eventually proven to be false.

TLC biopic coming to VH1

This fall we will have something to look forward to. VH1 has released the official trailer for their made-for TV biopic” CrazySexyCool” (named after the group’s sophomore album) chronicling the greatness of the super group TLC. Now, before you roll your eyes, please know that based on this trailer, we are in for a treat and a well needed trip down memory lane for those of us who are extremely nostalgic. Keke Palmer, Drew Sidora, and Lil Mama will play the roles of Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, and Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes, respectively. In the trailer we see the recreation of the group’s hit singles “Creep” and “No Scrubs” and it is safe to say that the casting for “CrazySexyCool” was genius. I can’t wait to see how they recreate Lisa tossing her ex-beau’s sneakers into a tub and torching the place… what? The film is set to air on October 21 on VH1 and we’ve got the trailer!

Is Beyonc ‘s album delayed?

Bad news Bey stans, news is leaking that Beyonc ‘s album may not be released this year. Though a release date was never announced, a lot of music fans have been hearing whispers that we would have something this summer or even in the fall. According to a recent report, the songs that the singer has already recorded, have been scrapped. There were 50 songs that were being considered for the unnamed album, some of those songs were written by singer/songwriter’s Ne-Yo and The Dream; however, now Beyonc is starting from scratch. We’ve heard about two songs from Beyonc , “Grown Woman” (a snippet of this track was first heard in the Pepsi commercial starring the singer and her many mirror reflections) and the ego-smasher “Bow Down/I Been On.” The good news is that Beyonc ‘s tour is seeing great success, reportedly already racking in $55.6 million. Beyonc ‘s next show is scheduled for Monday, June 28 at The Staple Center in Los Angeles.

Video Premiere’s

Kanye West’s video for “BlKKK SKKKN Head”

Earlier this week, Kanye released the Nick Knight directed video for his controversial single “BLKKK SKKKN HEAD.” The single appears on Kanye’s sixth studio album “Yeezus.” This video is definitely not filled with daisies and sunshine. Instead you’ll get three mysterious figures wearing black cone hoods, three scary barking dogs, a computer animated Kanye, and Kanye pictured in a pose reminiscent of Jesus Christ. Get an eyeful below.

Kelly Rowland’s new music video

Kelly Rowland has released the video to accompany her single “Dirty Laundry” and it does the job of illustrating what the lyrics started on her album “Talk a Good Game.” The video was directed by Sarah McColgan and shows Kelly dining with her abusive boyfriend and then later submerged rather erotically in a pool of water as she sings the lyrics to the song. There is also a quick glance of three silhouettes near the start of the video surely in reference to Kelly’s role as a member in Destiny’s Child alongside Beyonc – someone she mentions initially being envious of in the lyrics.

Lady Gaga Nude Artpop

Lady Gaga has posed completely naked once again. The pop star has stripped off her clothes to promote her upcoming album “ARTPOP.” The singer is pictured reclining nude on a chair made up of electronic circuit boards.

She released the image on Twitter on Friday with the caption: “1ST SINGLE FROM ARTPOP COMES AUG.19 #24DAYS.”

Gaga also bares all for the upcoming issue of V magazine. Photographers recently teased fans with an image from the shoot in which she poses provocatively on a stool, covering up her lady parts with just her arms and hands.

Her new album drops on Nov. 11 in conjunction with a new mobile app, ARTPOP. The pop superstar will take the stage at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) on August 25 for the first performance of the first single, the title for which is currently unknown.

Meanwhile, Forbes magazine editors just released their annual list of the top earning celebrities under 30, and Gaga came in first place, earning $80 million between June, 2012 and June, 2013.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift has famously used her failed romances as song inspiration and has no problem with her musician exes following her example, insisting it’s “fair game.”

The country pop star has dated several well-known stars, including actor Jake Gyllenhaal, rocker John Mayer and One Direction’s Harry Styles. She has become known for break-up anthems like “I Knew You Were Trouble” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and has openly admitted to drawing from her own relationship troubles for the songs.

The tune “Dear John” was reportedly based on her 2009 fling with Mayer, prompting the rocker to criticize at her for making him “feel terrible” with her “cheap songwriting”, but she insists her former lovers are more than welcome to pen songs about their break-up too.

Swift told Britain’s InStyle magazine, “If I’m gonna write songs about my exes they can write songs about me. That’s how it works. I’m not gonna complain about it. I’m not gonna sit there and say, ‘I’m the only one who can write songs about this relationship’. It’s fair game.”

Jermaine Jackson, Now Jacksun

A judge has granted Jermaine Jackson, 58, permission to officially change the spelling of his famous last name.

In November, Michael Jackson’s older brother filed papers in Los Angeles Superior Court, requesting to legally alter his surname to “Jacksun” for “artistic reasons.”

Steve Dennis, a friend of the singer, said Jermaine’s reasons for the spelling change is purely for performance purposes. “Phonetically, it changes nothing,” Dennis told the AP. He added, “It is something he has chosen to do, and it’s fair to say that you cannot blame this one on the boogie, you’ve got to blame it on the sunshine.”

Dennis was referring to one of the Jackson 5’s famous songs “Blame It On The Boogie.”

On Friday a judge approved Jermain’s petition, according to Jermaine did not attend the hearing because he is currently on tour in Europe with his brothers as The Jacksons.

The singer is married and has nine children. No word on whether any of them are changing their names.

Boy George

Who can forget flamboyant 80s pop star Boy George? Still somewhat talked about in England, the singer long ago went off the radar in the United States. But he’s recently done something to get the media’s attention: he lost a huge amount of weight!

The former Culture Club star, 51, is famous for songs such as “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?” “Karma Chameleon” and “I’ll Tumble 4 Ya.” His appearance at the Awards in London over the weekend got tongues wagging. The pop star, born George Alan O’Dowd, also looks significantly younger since he dropped the pounds.

He recently revealed the secret to his slimmer figure – Amelia Freer’s Nutrition plan. He tweeted: “5 hour gaps between meals. No coffee or tea, except at meals. Water & fizzy water between meals! No bread, sugar!” He also posted some of his recent meal choices: bean curry, cannelloni bean & veggie curry, and spicy broccoli cheese.

The singer made headlines in 2005 after being arrested in Manhattan on suspicion of cocaine possession and falsely reporting a burglary. Part of his sentence was community service where he worked for the New York City Department of Sanitation. In 2008 he spent four months in prison in England for assault and false imprisonment of a male escort.

He recently reunited with his Culture Club bandmates for two concerts in Dubai and Sydney, Australia. The band is reportedly recording new material.

Alicia Keys, the Black Eyed Peas and Bobby Brown helped to raise $3.3 million for rapper’s Los Angeles charity on Thursday by performing at his second annual benefit show.

The Black Eyed Peas headlined the TRANS4M gig at The Avalon Hollywood club and recruited Keys to fill in for absent bandmate Fergie on a rendition of “Where Is the Love?”, while British singer Estelle joined the group for “The Time (Dirty Bit).”

Peas stars and Taboo also raised laughs as back-up dancers for Brown as the R&B star sang his hits “Every Little Step” and “Tenderoni.”

Rapper Ludacris also performed, while Keys staged a solo set and belted out her tracks “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” and “Girl On Fire” for guests including socialite Paris Hilton, MC Hammer and embattled comedian Katt Williams.
