Fans are eagerly waiting for the next riveting season of “Homeland” on Showtime, which will focus on the aftermath of the terror attack at Langley and prompt a massive manhunt for Nick Brody (Damian Lewis).

According to the network, “As Carrie (Claire Danes) and Saul (Mandy Patinkin) begin to pick up the pieces of their shattered professional and personal lives, they are swept up in the political and media firestorm surrounding the terror attack and the subsequent search for Brody’s whereabouts.”

Spoiler #1: At the start of season three, Carrie and Saul will be on trial, testifying for the CIA about the terrorist attack. Executive producer Alex Gansa told, “The CIA itself is on trial.” The third season will center on “the cost that being an intelligence officer exacts on the people in that career,” Gansa added.

Amy Morton will play Erin Kimball, Carrie’s CIA appointed attorney.

Check out more spoilers from the upcoming season, which premieres on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 9 p.m. on Showtime…

trailer for homeland season 3

Showtime just released the official Homeland Season 3 trailer and there’s just so much going on we don’t even know where to begin. For starters, it’s super emotional. Let’s take a look at a few standout takeaways, shall we? (Warning: some Season 2 spoilers lie ahead.)

-Brody – everyone’s favorite new fugitive – is bald. Yup, Damian Lewis‘ ginger locks are as gone as that tailor he abruptly offed last season.

-Carrie (Claire Danes) and Saul (Mandy Patinkin) appear to be testifying in front of the Senate post CIA bombing. Hmm.

-Mama Jessica (Morena Baccarin) and the young Brody brood have some major dinner table tension.

-Dana (Morgan Saylor) is preparing to snap a racy pic on her cell phone. She’s also borrowing her dad’s prayer mat. Oh, Dana.

-Carrie is in tears. A lot. She and Saul have a dramatic moment towards the end where he tells her, “I am so sorry.” Sorry for WHAT?

There’s also a whole bunch of other intriguing stuff like sex, an explosion, and a car shoot-out. It’s a real doozy. The trailer is set to the somber tune of Cinematic Orchestra’s “To Build a Home.” (What? You know you were gonna download it.)

Season 3 of the Emmy winning Homeland premieres September 29th on Showtime. Watch the trailer, above, and analyze every second to your heart’s content.
